According to the USCIS policy memorandum dated 12/20/2012, current medical examination results
which have been certified by the civil surgeons on I-693 will
be automatically extended until September 30, 2013 beyond one-year
vaility under the rule.
Please note that it has been the
agency's tradition to extend "one full year" beginning
from January 1 of the year to January 1 of the next year through
such policy memorandum which has been released each year, but
for the unknown reasons, the USCIS is extending only up to 09/30/2013,
nine (9) months only this year.
Accordingly, the I-485
filers whose I-693 will be onfile beyond one year at the time
of September 2013 should watch carefully release of the USCIS
policy on what the new practice would be. It is obvious that
the USCIS will release their policy on or before 09/30/2013,
but the involved I-485 applicants should keep watching on the
potential policy change on this matter.
The memorandum indicates
that USCIS is currently working on new policy for FY 2014 (10/01/2013-09/30/2014)
with CDC and will issue the new policy before 09/30/2013.
