If you have not done it, please remember to add or update your I-130/NVC/I-140/I-485 case in the GC tracker: http://www.mygcvisa.com/ tracker/
It would be very useful to understand how USCIS is currently processing cases. It would also help in estimating date movements in future VB.
We will update this table as we get more data. If you are interested, the dates above are based on following data:
- March 2014 Demand Data and estimated September 2014 Demand Data
- Latest I-130/I-140/I-485 Processing Statistics (see link on right side) -->
Similar to EB3 category movement, we have added a blog post for EB2 category forward movement. Please click here for FB category.
Next Steps: If priority date is current and
1. If applicant is inside US, they will have to file I-485: http://blog.mygcvisa.com/2013/04/how-to-file-i-485-application.html
2. If applicant is outside US, it will be sent to NVC: http://blog.mygcvisa.com/2013/09/nvc-consular-processing-steps.html

This waiting game is cruel. I'm just glad, that no matter how little, there is some movement predicted for my (wife's) category. I have been following this blog for years. Hopefully the Visa Bulletin PD cutoff date keeps moving. Thank you Amazon!

I think for F2A category, based on previous years' statics on the same situation (retrogression ) for next month we will have a ~ 2 month or even more movement
ReplyDeleteF2A is expected to move forward more than a year in oct 2014
ReplyDeleteHow can u expect that??? Please tell me
ReplyDeleteF2A expected to move forward....frustration killing me..when it will be current
ReplyDeleteF2A expected to move forward more than 7/8 month in oct 2014 ...why only 2 0r 8 weeks movement in october 2014....this is rediculous...i finished my interview and due to retrogression i didnt get visa ...why they are doing this...its very difficult to stay far away from my husband.....frustration is killing me......
ReplyDeleteIn your position as well. Interview complete but no visa. Husband away from me and our daughter. I think especially in this position, where everything is done, having us wait is cruel. Be comforted. You r not alone
DeleteThank you for your suggestion.I want to know why they are doing this.If they dont want to give visa then why they scheduled interview and called after 1 week to take visa and when reached at ambassy to take visa they said retrogression.I hope that there wil be fast movement on october 2014 but looking this prediction am in frustration...When i will be with my family......my pd 3rd july 2013
DeleteI think the system is seriously flawed. All these visa numbers that people nah to wait for cannot even be used until they issue the visa. I don't see how that makes sense, but maybe its just me. My pd is 23 aug 2013. I'm hoping for good news next month, but I don't know.
DeleteSame thing happen to me.My interview was finished on may 27th,Consular officer told me that everything is gud.He will call me soon for VISA pickup.I wait 2 weeks-went for inquiry,He told me i will give you ASAP.After a months again i went for inquiry, they told me unfortunately the VISA retrogress in June-bad luck,i gotta wait until my pd is current. That sucks me..why they make me wait for this long even when everything is done??...Who can predict for OCT prediction??Im pregnant,i gotta go fast,do they give me immediate Visa??
DeleteWe need to see what Charles Oppenheim says in september 24,2014 meeting with AILA.http://ailadc.org/meetinginfo.php?id=174&ts=1406926513
DeleteThis is freaking frustrating. Last year at the same time the quota was current and first of all why the hell they made it current in Aug 2013 if they haven't given visas for people with priority dates prior to Aug 2013 for gods sake ? They make it current whenever they wanted no matter if people get the visa or not ? What the hell is the benefit of being in current status if half of the people couldn't get visa last year when it was current status. They have put F2A on hold for almost an year just to increase the demand. When demand increased they retrogressed. That sounds ridiculous. Why don't they start giving visas to F2A visas for 2014 quota and move it forward to Jan 2014 in october at least. Why do they want to keep visas on hold if they had more than 10k unapplied visas last year?
DeleteF2A is expected to move forward more than a year in oct 2014
Deletepd for the month of oct is feb/08/2013 for f2a
DeleteThis is why everyone has to encourage President Obama to take executive action on immigration reform. If he does, there will be no more priority date issue with F2A category. Unfortunately, the so called republican party does not want this to happen. My prayer is he does as promised after this summer.
DeleteSame here. PD 09/2012. Interviewed few days before retro, put on AP. Called to submit passport to receive visa one month later. I was pleasantly surprised that a visa was probably reserved for me! But passport was returned after the embassy received it and with a letter that visa can not be issued as PD not current! So frustrated!
DeleteBut PD is about to become current again, already submitted the passport. Hopefully visa will be issued soon.
what is your PD?
DeleteWhere the hell this prediction is given that f2a will advance 8 or 9 months !!!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate you and your information but I need to know were did u get this information ?is there any other blog ? I will glad to know this thanks you
ReplyDeleteLawyer Applied to AOS package to Dallas Service Center. I read every where on the internet that the package should me mailed to Chicago, IL or Lewisville, TX.
ReplyDeleteLawyer says its ok to file in Dallas, at Texas Service Center. Can anyone please confirm ? Thanks in advance
I think the cut of date for Oct 2014 may come to the same as on retrogress time,i mean it should be Sep 08 2013,that is my prediction.Hopefully F2A will forward very soon.
ReplyDeleteGud idea, thats what it will happen in my sense..
DeleteI'm not happy to see visa bulletin. my pd july 2006 india. please take big jump.
ReplyDeleteWhen will be F2A move to Feb 2014 ?
ReplyDeleteFeb 2041 if it moves forward at the same pace as shown above
Deleteoh I have almost the same PD! our lawyer said it should be done till ~ 9 month later from now. Of course we shouldn't trust any of those words but my guess in pretty the same. what do you think?
Deleteoh I forgot to ask. did you get your case number? which center your case is in?
DeleteI am having the priority date of same month, I hope F2A will move forward more than a year in oct 2014
DeleteOctober 2014 visa bulletin will be crucial for F2A applicants. For most of the applicants after September 9, Oct visa bulletin will decide rest of 2013 and 2014 applicants future.
DeleteThe Second Preference F2A Category
DeleteEach year, the Department of State allocates 115,000 visas under the Second Preference Category. This preference category is currently experiencing a backlog of about 700,000, as indicated by the Migration Policy Institute’s testimony. The data is derived from the Department of State’s National Visa Center and excludes filings that are sent to the USCIS, which is believed to be a much larger number. The Migration Policy Institute has been conducting migration studies from around the world for years, looking at each country’s immigration policy and how “nimble” those policies are to migration issues. In comparison to other countries, the extended waiting periods imposed on LPRs and their nuclear families in the U.S. is “unique.” [That’s certainly putting it lightly.] Most importantly, it is precisely these long waiting periods that incentivize individuals to break U.S. immigration laws. In fact, Ranking Member Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) asked what the country had to gain by separating wives and husbands and parents from their children. Mr. Papademetriou commented that, “Separating spouses and children is unnatural.”
This is freaking frustrating. Last year at the same time the quota was current and first of all why the hell they made it current in Aug 2013 if they haven't given visas for people with priority dates prior to Aug 2013 for gods sake ? DeleteThanks Ildie.I already received my NVC fee bill but my name is still my maiden name instead of my married name but my spouse and child's name are correct. Do I still have to make actions to correct my name or leave it as that. Will there be any problem in the processing if my maiden name is in the fee bill? Pls reply. Thanks

ReplyDeleteWhich prediction? Could you please mention your resources?
DeleteI think he's a psychic. But he'll end up wrong mostly because until you see October visa bulletin you can't predict anything. Priority dates in October visa bulletin will give a picture of current situation of F2A.

ReplyDeleteU.S. Senate finally releases its version of a Comprehensive Immigration Reform
(CIR) bill today. The Border
Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013 proposes
to reform many aspects of the current immigration policy, including the
creation of a new Registered Provisional Immigrant Status (RPI) for the
undocumented immigrants. The prerequisite is that the border must be secured
first before any RPI petition will be approved. The following are the
highlights of the most important proposed changes:
Family-sponsored Immigration
Reduce the current four family preference categories
to two categories only: Unmarried adult children (of U.S. citizens);
married adult children (of U.S. citizens) who file before age 31, and
unmarried adult children of lawful permanent residents.
Lawful permanent residents will be able to petition
for their spouses and minor children (currently F2A) without regard to
visa numbers – just like U.S. citizens can do now.
The current F4 preference category will be
eliminated 18 months after the law is enacted – meaning that U.S. citizens
will no longer be able to petition for their brothers and sisters.
What about f2b? Unmarried adult children of lpr? Why its not included?
DeleteMAJOR CHANGES IN FAMILY IMMIGRATION PROPOSED IN SENATE BILLBy Reuben S. SeguritanMay 01, 2013
ReplyDeleteIn line with its goal of shifting the focus of immigration from family-based to skills-based, the Senate comprehensive reform bill proposes a number of major changes in the current family-based preference system.
The annual limit of family-based immigrant visas will be reduced from 226,000 to 161,000. The per country cap will rise from 7% to 15%.
The bill will eliminate the 4th preference category for brothers and sisters of U.S. citizens and limit the 3rd preference category to married sons and daughters who are under 31. The changes will take effect after the bill is passed so that petitions filed before that will continue to be processed. U.S. citizens should consider filing their petitions for these relatives now.
Under the current system, the 4th preference category is allocated 65,000 annual visa numbers. As of November 2012, the Department of State recorded 2,873,114 applicants, including 188,521 Filipinos, on the waiting list.
The 3rd preference category on the other hand with current annual allocation of 23,400 has a waiting list of over 830,000 applicants. The bill will allocate 25% of the worldwide level for this scaled-back category.
The first preference category for the unmarried sons and daughters of U.S. citizens will be retained. This category has a waiting list of 288,000 and has an annual allocation of 23,400. Under the bill, it will have 35% of the worldwide allotment.
Unmarried sons and daughters of lawful permanent residents who are classified under the F2B preference category will be allocated 40% of the worldwide level.
Spouses and children of lawful permanent residents currently under the F2A category will be upgraded to the immediate relative category and would not therefore be subject to visa number limitation. Under that category they would be allowed to adjust their status even if they have overstayed or worked without authorization. Under the current system, only the spouse, unmarried children and parents of U.S. citizens have this benefit.
Derivative beneficiaries of immediate relatives applying for green card will be allowed to immigrate with their parents unlike now where they have to be petitioned separately under a different category. This will prevent separation of the children from their parents.
The bill will also benefit the unmarried sons and daughters of U.S. citizens under 31 and unmarried adult sons and daughters of lawful permanent residents who are beneficiaries of approved family-based petitions. They will be eligible for V visas to enable them to live and work in the U.S. while waiting for their priority dates to become current.
Brothers and sisters of U.S. citizens and sons and daughters of U.S. citizens over 31 years will also be eligible but they will not be authorized to work and their admission may not exceed 60 days per year.
Other new provisions under the bill include raising the age of a stepchild from 18 to 21 for purposes of allowing sponsorship by the stepparent; raising the age requirement for adopted child from 16 to 18; allowing aged-out children to retain the priority dates of the original petition of their parents; and permitting lawful permanent residents to file for a fiance petition.
The current rules pertaining to termination or reinstatement of registration for an immigrant visa, retention of priority dates, automatic conversion of visa petitions, petition for orphans and widows and inadmissibility waivers will be modified.
Great News: Please pass this bill soon, then after there will be no wait time for F2A...
Deletewow thats interesting! when we should expect anything happens?
DeleteWHAT?? WHEN THEY ARE GOING TO ARGUE ABOUT THIS? THAT'S SUCH A GOOD NEWS!
Deletethis is posted in one year ago. whats new about that?
DeleteWhen this bill have pass ?
ReplyDeleteTheir bill has not moved in house for more than year and god knows the future of this bill!
ReplyDeleteFor those making 'predictions' about the movement of this visa category or that visa category -- they are WAGs at best and should not be relied upon.
ReplyDeleteAmazon's (whose runs this blog and forum) predictions are grounded in careful and thoughtful estimations, and s/he has proven to be better than most in estimating cut off dates in the DoS Visa Bulletin. That being said, the one source that can be relied upon is Mr. Charles Oppenheim, Chief of the Visa Control and Reporting Division at the DoS, who is the person responsible for the monthly and annual visa number allocations and cut off dates.
Regarding the posted information on the Senate comprehensive immigration reform bill -- read the news -- this bill will NOT be taken up by the House and will die with the fall federal elections. There will be NO comprehensive immigration reform legislation out of the current Congress. Learn the facts before posting information.
Thanks for the clarification
DeleteDoes visa recapturing Executive order from president helps F2a category?
ReplyDeleteYes, then after there will be no wait time for F2A, it will be always current
DeleteLets pray this will happen soon, then after there will be no wait time for F2A, when can we expect ?
ReplyDeleteExpectations are high that President Obama can move ahead with controversial executive actions now that he has returned from his vacation.
ReplyDeleteObama’s two weeks on Martha’s Vineyard, Mass., were plagued by dual crises, in Iraq and in Ferguson, Mo. But his break was also something of a blackout period for news about actions the White House is weighing on immigration reform and so-called corporate “inversions,” a business maneuver companies use to reduce their tax burdens.
Obama will be in Washington for just one full week before departing on a trip to Estonia and Wales in early September to reassure NATO allies amid conflict with Russia.
Obama announced in June that he would take action on immigration “before the end of summer.”
Kamal Essaheb, an attorney at the National Immigration Law Center, pointed to Obama’s June remarks, saying the president promised to make policy consistent with American values, and “we expect him to do that when he’s back from vacation.”
“People are waiting every day to see if the president’s going to make an announcement,”
Any updates yet from charles oppenheim on October 2014 visa bulletin?
DeleteNot yet, me too waiting... hope for some thing good
DeleteAny news on Charles Oppenheim meeting with AILA a couple of days back?... What r peoples predictions for next bulletin? I hope for all of us there is big movement to help bring more families back together... 7th october 2013 PD myself...
DeleteStrange. Not a single message in the entire discussion from Amazon. Amazon, please share your thoughts on the above discussion on the F2A future.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteAny update regarding quota of F4 Cat.during the year sept'14 to sept'15
It will move 20-30 days per month, not more than that, have to wait years of time
DeleteI guess we will not get any predictions from Mr. Oppenheim until the next visa bulletin being released. It's August 28th NOW!! this is driving me crazy.
ReplyDeleteGood news is expected for F2A applicants in oct 2014 visa bulletin....., oct is the new financial year for visa quota
ReplyDeletePlease share more details including info source if possible.
DeleteI wish I could change my PR status to other Non Immigrant Status at least I can stay with my spouse. As per the information F2A is not going to move forward until February 2015.
ReplyDeleteWell said, Non immigrant status is better than PR status, there we can immediately bring our spouse and can stay together, this immigration process is killing, I dont understand why they are dividing husband and wife... no other country had this kind of process....
Deleteyou can do the V visa if you want too.
DeleteWaiting time started for F2A.., hope for some thing big.....
DeleteIs there any news for F2A? Will it move forward?
ReplyDeleteYes, F2A will move forward....Remember me after 3 days...:)
DeleteEverybody know that it will move as new fiscal year starts ? There is point in remembering u if u exact how much it gonna move
ReplyDeleteAccording to the sources, F2A expected to move more than a year or may become current....
ReplyDeleteWhich sources ??? I don't think any source is available till the date
ReplyDeleteYou people on here posting your "predictions" need to stop messing with people. Until you have lived what most of US have, you can never understand how difficult it is to be separated from your spouse. If you have no sources, stop posting about f2a movement. It is very insensitive.
ReplyDeleteMy post to being remembered was not predictions. My spouse PD is Jan 30, 2013. and I was requesting to expedite from nvc. yesterday, I received an email from nvc stating that the interview will be in Oct 15 and the letter will be sent shortly.
DeleteThis is why I posted my comment above. I know exactly what everyone here is going through. I was the same like any F2A cases waiting only.
As of October the cut off date is Feb 8 2013, may be this is why your spouse will have an interview scheduled. :) Lucky you. The wait for people with PD's before August 2013 are stuck, because they were current in 2013 and we all are waiting for more than an year now. Good luck to you.
DeleteNote that, the cut off date for October is just a prediction. :) I read from various articles. Hoping for it to move 8 more months. God Bless.
DeleteUpdate; I just received the interview letter. wish you all the best of luck :)
DeleteCongratulations and celebrations. :)
DeleteA few questions though, your PD being January 30, and you received interview letter? Surprising to me.
Good Luck though.
Not Surprising at all, Take this note from my previous experience with some cases: They used to send the letters just before issuing the bulletin. This is why I was sure above that they will move forward :) Thanks and good luck
DeleteFair enough. As of now the October visa bulletin is predicted to move up to Feb 08 2013 and you qualify for it as your priority date is Jan 30 2013. :)
DeleteMy comment was to the persons saying the cyt off date will move a year. Don't get me wrong, i would love for it to be true, however, the comments seem to be made to stir people up. My pd is aug 2013, completed interview since may of this year and was approved then told no numbers. Imagine my disappointment and frustration. All the best to everyone.
ReplyDeleteI am on the sane stage... When I interviewed and visa approved at that day I am full of excitement .. Thought that I will be with my husband and seperation is over... But another day they told me no visa available I.e retrogression ... At that time I am in stage of frustration ...
DeleteWhy they are giving hope and break our hope and lead us to frustration ... Why they playing with our emotion
Waiting time for F2A is killing, they should not divide the spouses, they must understand, they should make this category current forever, everyone has the right to stay with his family.....
ReplyDeleteIn addition to that, I just found out the medical rxpires after six months and even if you were approved, if your date does not become current in the six months, you have to go back to the consulate and redo the medical. I think they are downright insensitive and mean. Unnecessarily.
ReplyDeleteI think according to new rules medical check up is valid upto 1 yr so take advice before you redo medical check up..!!
ReplyDeleteF2a news?? Any prediction?? Share the source if any !!!! My pd is june 6th 2013..!! Hoping for the best in new fiscal year. .!!
ReplyDeleteHello Guys I see some useful information about F2A category.
ReplyDeleteI am a LPR and I applied I-130 for my son under 21. the application was received September 30, 2013. I already received a letter with the case number but Haven't receive an approval from USCIS. It's been too long now 12 months. I send a status request they said it is pending in Vermont Service Center. I was thinking once USCIS approve a case it suppose to be sent to NVC and wait until visa availaible. does anyone is in the same case than me. thank you
Hi, my PD is the same as yours 30 Sep 2013 and I received the approved from USCIS in march 2014. But my application it was for my husband and I never received a letter from NVC. I don't know why is taking long for you from USCIS. but I wish you good luck.
DeleteThank you! I send a request to USCIS they said my case is still pending in Vermont Service Center and a Visa is not available for my case at this time. My inquiries is why I am not still receive a an approval letter from USCIS?
DeleteI applied I-130 for my daughter 30 years old, PD is 2012 and we got approval letter from USCIS after 2 years. We don't know why was pending 2 years. But is good.
DeleteNow our petition is in NVC.
my pd is nov. 25, 2013 anyone can tell me how long will I wait to become current my category is f2a
ReplyDeleteNext month it will be current
Deletehow do you know that my pd will become current?
DeleteYes, It will be current, it will move 7-8 months

plz dnt give people fake hope....unless u hv genuine sources
ReplyDeleteBulletin is out and prediction are right on F2A moved to Feb 1 2013.
ReplyDeleteMy question is this in the birth certificate of my. Husband as the principal applicant his name has no suffix like Jr. But in our marriage contract and in the birth certificate of our son the Jr.was written, but he is really the junior of his father. It was not indicated in his birth certificate when they regissstered.. Do we need to follow on what is in the bc of my husband ? Our papers is already done and we are just waiting for the appointment interview. Please advice me to what will going to do.thanks
ReplyDeleteIn your son's birth certificate, your husband's name has Jr.?
DeleteThe question was not too clear. And if everything is cleared, and you are just waiting for Interview, there is nothing to worry about, until and unless the visa center asks you for anything specific.
Thanks.
